The President’s Purge

The President's Purge
It's not like Richard Clarke, General Shinseki, Paul O'Neil and the rest of
the give 'em hell crowd didn't cause us pause. The list of the ousted for speaking truth to presidential power goes on
and on.
David
Corn, Kevin
Drum and Josh
Marshall are in agreement on something that really makes your head spin.
When I read it, I thought the same thing.
The White House also has recently barraged the agency with questions about
the political affiliations of some of its senior intelligence officers, according
to intelligence officials. – Washington

After everything we've already been through, we're now going to be treated
to a presidential purge?
Tyler Drumheller waited until he was out of the CIA to talk. His interview
on “60
Minutes” tonight gave me chills as I thought of all the men and women
who have died fighting the Iraq war, their families, as well as those thousands
of soldiers who will never be the same. It's not that we didn't know about what
Mr. Drumheller was revealing. It's that the matter of fact nature of what he was reporting was known by a vast amount of people in our government, all of whom were aware Bush's claims were false. Can you just imagine watching
the war, the carnage and the incompetence unfold if you were someone like Drumheller?
Are we now going to start hearing about intelligence agency purges of people
who are the wrong political stripe?
Are we in for loyalty oaths for our senior intel people?
If the new press secretary is Tony Snow, what kind of answers are we going to
get to these questions?
President Bush's purge of political enemies, if it's real, shows how petrified
his people are as time presses forward. It all rests on the election this year.
If Bush makes it through without Democrats gaining enough seats to get subpoena
power he's home free. They'll stop at nothing to get that job done.
