Proud of Their Tommy

| Aw, come on, MSNBC. Republicans never met a campaign that was “too nasty.” |
When Chris Shays is at home in Connecticut…Recently,
as DeLay's scandals became a national feeding frenzy, and with Chris Shays
under fire in his Democratic-leaning district, Shays decided to flip-flop,
calling DeLay…“…an absolute embarrassment to me and to the
Republican Party.”But when Chris Shays is in Washington….Shays
has been a loyal supporter of DeLay for years on end, saying, “I think
he's been a great Majority Leader” months ago. In just March of this
year he declared that he and his fellow House Republicans…“…are very grateful to Tom for his absolute
dedication to this party and for having worked so hard to increase our majority.”
“The bottom line is that at worst, these are
slaps on the wrist to a guy who is our leader.” [Congressional Quarterly
(subscription only), 10/7/2004] – Rep. Tom Feeney“You're going to see a big rallying around Tom.”
[Washington Post, 10/8/04] – Rep. Paul Ryan
Too nasty?
With the entire House and the Republican machine behind Tommy,
his race would be too nasty to continue on?
The bug man can't even admit when he's beat, embarrassed, washed
up and run out of Texas.
We've seen this so many times before with the rubber stamp Republicans.
They are so weak that they can't even walk away from the indicted. They simply
look the other way, grab a yard sign and chant Tom-my, Tom-my, Tom-my.
The rubber stamp Republicans do it for Bush too. They're so weak
they follow the bankrupt policies that have us buried in debt and foreign money. Republicans are so spineless, they don't have the courage to stand up to what's wrong.
The Delayisms of the Republican Party run so deep they can't give it up. Old
business habits and their rubber stamping ways die hard.
But a campaign that is too nasty? The rubber stamp, Swiftboating Republicans,
who never miss a chance to slime a veteran, never met a campaign that was too
nasty.
MSNBC needs to pick another tactic. Nobody is going to buy this one from Tommy.
