Now They’re Changing the Facts

Late Update: The Austin American-Statesman
says
Whittington was hit by as many as 200 pellets. Some were removed; others weren’t.
- Josh Marshall

The Austin lawyer who was shot by Vice
President Dick Cheney while hunting quail was peppered with as many as 200 birdshot
pellets, but the wounds were mostly superficial because of the distance from
which they were fired. … “If they are not life-threatening, you leave
them be,” said Blanchard, who did not treat Whittington but who briefed
reporters at the hospital. … Blanchard said the wounds from the pellets —
on Whittington’s face, neck and upper torso — look like chicken pox.

Harry
Whittington hit by as many as 200 birdshot pellets

Mr. Whittington just had a cardiac catheterization. Some of the birdshot has now entered his heart and given him a “minor heart attack,” according to a briefing just given at the hospital where Whittington just had an operation.

Get them while they’re hot. And get the facts while they’re still
available, I say.

The above two posts from Josh and myself both used facts from
the Statesman article we both cite. In my case, the link is attached to the
exact wording that appeared as a sub-heading on the Statesman article. I did
not deviate from the sub-heading at all. Now not only the heading and sub-heading I used are gone, but the “200 pellets” fact is wiped clean, replaced with “100″
pellets propaganda, which is likely fiction. So far, I haven’t found the original online article anywhere.

There’s a very simple reason for the wiping clean of this article
and replacing it with a lower birdshot pellet propaganda. It fits the probable
concocted story about Cheney being 30 yards from Whittington. Because let’s
face it, if he were as close to Whittington as we are coming to believe he was
Dick Cheney looks even worse than he did when this all started.

Let’s also get something straight. It’s not just the facts that
matter, though these are important. It’s the manner in which the vice president’s
office is handling this shooting accident. It’s like everything else. They don’t
think they owe us jack.

Evidently, they don’t owe Whittington anything either, even though
he’s decided to take the blame for something that was done to him.

Ms. Willeford, whose husband was also at
the ranch, said in an interview after visiting the victim at the hospital that
Mr. Whittington accepted responsibility for the accident. “He understands
that he could have handled it better,” Ms. Willeford said. “Harry
should have let us know he was back there.” No
End to the Questions in Cheney Hunting Accident

Even Tucker Carlson recently said that you should always know
where your hunting party is, no matter what.

If this weren’t so sick it would be hilarious. My husband laughed
his ass off, again. It’s preposterous to think that the man who took
the lead is the one responsible when he’s not the one who held the gun that
shot him.

I always knew Dick Cheney was a dangerous, power hungry megalomaniac,
with his 5 deferments from Vietnam showing very little spine. And we may never
be able to prove what we suspect. But Dick Cheney’s handling
of this latest incident proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the man is an
unmitigated coward. Problem is, he’s an unmitigated coward with more power than
any other man in the world. We’ve seen the damage he’s done already, but he’s
got a couple of more years in office. That should frighten us all.

UPDATE: The post I did early this morning has even more revelancy now.
