Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., called the leak
of intelligence information "inappropriate" if it is true that unnamed
"superiors" instructed Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter"
Libby, to divulge the material on Iraq. Sen. George Allen, R-Va., said a full
investigation is necessary. "I don't think anybody should be releasing
classified information, period, whether in the Congress, executive branch or
some underling in some bureaucracy," said Allen, who appeared
with Reed on "Fox News Sunday." Senators:

Hmmm…. George Allen bucking the boss' boss? This is interesting
and important, I believe. He's got it right, nobody is above the law.
Joseph DeGenova offered some hilarious notion on CNN (I believe it was Friday, but I'm not certain) that if the vice
president authorizes Libby to release classified information it is then no longer
considered classified. I don't think a vice president has the authority to declassify documents in secret, at will and whenever it suits his propaganda purposes. A lawyer will have to weigh in on this one, but when I heard DeGenova, I simultaneously felt the cow crap rising around my feet.
