Senator Diane Feinstein Changes her Mind

Senator
Feinstein to Vote No on Cloture
for the Nomination of Judge Samuel
Alito to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court
January 27, 2006

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein
(D-Calif.) today announced that she will vote no on cloture regarding the
nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr. to be an Associate Justice of the
Supreme Court.

“Based on a very long and thoughtful analysis
of the record and transcript, which I tried to indicate in my floor statement
yesterday, I’ve decided that I will vote no on cloture.”

Senator Feinstein won’t stop the debate. This is quite different
from what she was saying earlier, when I
said she was wrong
. Maybe that’s why George Allen is on cable saying "make
my day" to Democrats. Allen is all for a filibuster, because he says it
will just bring out the nuclear option. Republicans are concerned enough that they’ve got their “stars” out spinning.

So, for all of you out there who haven’t weighed in with your
senator
, what are you waiting for? It’s still up hill, but it’s not over
yet.
