Don't our politicians know by now that it's the cover up that
gets you, not the crime? The American people are a forgiving lot, until you
let your ego be your guide.
The evidence is in and TIME magazine has seen it…
The President's memory may soon
be unhappily refreshed. TIME has seen five photographs of Abramoff and the
President that suggest a level of contact between them that Bush's aides have
downplayed. While TIME's source refused to provide the pictures for publication,
they are likely to see the light of day eventually because celebrity tabloids
are on the prowl for them. And that has been a fear of the Bush team's for
the past several months: that a picture of the President with the admitted
felon could become the iconic image of direct presidential involvement in
a burgeoning corruption scandal—like the shots of President Bill Clinton
at White House coffees for campaign contributors in the mid-1990s.
If you missed “Meet the Press” this morning, you really
did miss the best of Mary Matalin's pimping for the president propaganda. It
was the Bush-Cheney Abramoff is a equal opportunity party spoiler talking points on parade.
Again, one more time with feeling (and emphasis), nobody ever
said Democrats don't take lobbying money. We even take it from people with ties
to Abramoff. When you live in a state with Indian tribes, running for office means you're going to take money from those tribes who support your candidacy. In Nevada, you are going to take money from gaming, period. But the money Democrats get does not come by way of the Republican felon Jack Abramoff, nor are Democrats
in charge of the Republican only concoction known as the K Street Project. Delay made sure of that by not allowing lobbyists to hire Democrats if they wanted meetings in the Bush led Republican world of Washington. Democrats are NOT in the majority. We do not offer up bills at 3:00 a.m. in the morning, before anyone has seen or read the legislation. And Republicans
are the ones letting lobbyists write bills suited to their needs, like the Medicare bill that currently
isn't working. Republicans let the energy companies meet privately with the
vice president, then subsequently write the energy bill. It goes on and on and on.
Jack Abramoff is a Bush Pioneer, giving over $100,000 to George
W. Bush and his campaign to re-elect the president in 2004. Does anyone truly
believe Jack Abramoff didn't have access? We already know he got tribal chiefs
inside the White House. Yet Scott McClellan continues to stonewall.
These pictures that TIME has seen will surface. In fact, Larry Flynt should go after
them, because it's obscene when the president of the United States lies about his ties to a felon, someone who was instrumental in getting you elected, as well as help elect the majority in Congress that allows you to wield your power. A president that lies and covers up the evidence because he's afraid to let the American people know the truth. It may not be sexy, but let's just call it what it is, political
porn of the presidential order.
