BARACK OBAMA: The Cost of Corruption

This is the best live blogging I can offer on Obama's speech, as the Democrats'
press conference continues, AS IT GOES UNCOVERED BY THE CABLE NETWORKS. So,
it's up to you, email all posts to your friends and spread the word. All I can say is that Barak Obama would make a fine vice presidential candidate, which is something to say so many years out from 2008.

\”Chicago ain't ready for reform,\” Obama quoted a crony in Chi-town.
The American people are ready for reform, however.

Obama passed the first ethics law in 25 years in Illinois, when in the state
legislature.

Americans have grown accustomed to big money having too much power in Washington.
He calls it a \”systematic takeover\” of our government. We've seen
the head of the White House procurement office arrested. The number of registered
lobbyists have doubled since Bush came into office.

While the Democrats are certainly without sin, Abramoff and the K-Street project
are a Republican scandal. They're bigger than golf junkets. The recent scandals
have shaken the American people's confidence. They have led to morally offensive
legislation.

When big oil is invited into the White House for special breaks it's no wonder
that the American people end up with a big bill at the gas pump.

When the people running Washington are only accountable to the people who fund
their campaigns, what do you expect?

The reform bill from the Democrats is called the \”Honest Leadership and
Open Government Act.\”

Republicans have finally \”found religion.\”

It will take more than gift bans and lobbyist reforms to earn back the American
people's trust. Instead of meeting of lobbyists we need to start meeting with
the people who have no healthcare. Quit hitting up K-Street, start meeting with
mainstreet.
