National Review is Freaking… Dick has a Spy

06 October 2005 12:16 am by Taylor Marsh

The D.C. rumor mill is thrumming
with whispers that 22 indictments are about to be handed down on the outed-CIA
agent Valerie Plame case. The last time the wires buzzed this loud — that
Tom DeLay would be indicted and would step down from his leadership post in
the House — the scuttlebutters got it right.
BREAKING!
PLAME INDICTMENTS IMMINENT

Honest to God, I got the above link from the National
Review
. The Bushies are positively petrified that the other shoe is going to
drop, no doubt about it.

And on another front, if we thought our intelligence was bad on
9/11, well, it’s not gotten any better. The enemy is us and we’re so stupid
we didn’t even know it.

Officials tell ABC News the alleged
spy worked undetected at the White House for almost three years. Leandro Aragoncillo,
46, was a U.S. Marine most recently assigned to the staff of Vice President
Dick Cheney. “I don’t know of a case where the vetting broke down before
and resulted in a spy being in the White House,” said Richard Clarke, a
former White House advisor who is now an ABC News consultant. … According
to friends, in addition to his work for Cheney and Gore, Aragoncillo claimed
he also worked with President Clinton and Condoleezza Rice when she was the
national security advisor.

ESPIONAGE
CASE BREACHES WHITE HOUSE

Bush couldn’t keep us safe “over here” if he had a 50
state bio-dome from the Defense department and a 10-day warning from terrorists.
So, again, can we please stop talking about the war in Iraq making us safer
“over here”? I ask this time and again, but pu-leese.

In fact, not even W.’s Dick himself, Mr. We Will Be Fighting the
War on Terror Until the 12th of Never, knew he had a spy in his own office.
That’s because these bozos are looking “over there” all the time.
Hey, Dick, maybe you should quit giving speeches about the war on terror and
pay more attention to what’s going on in your own office. It’s getting away
from you, pal.

As for Condi, well, she’s earned the title of Condi the Incompetent.
She wouldn’t know danger if it came in the form of a screaming PDB that said,
Bin Laden determined to attack inside U.S. So nothing that gets past that broad
surprises me at all.

But you’ve got to admit, the incompetence coming out of the Bush
administration at this point is jaw dropping in the extreme. And the more nervous,
insecure, and harangued our president gets, the more the incompetence, stubbornness
and arrogance will metastasize.
